Helping our Friends. USC Perseus Launch Party

Friday 21 November 2955 was a special day for the USC and its members, celebrating several things at once and reaching out to long-lost allies after a long period of silence, during what became one of the largest events the Confederation has hosted in some time.

Welcoming the RSI Perseus into the Fleet

One of the most highly anticipated moments was the arrival of the RSI Perseus heavy gunship. The Perseus is not a new design—the first model dates back to the 2520s, originally serving as a patrol vessel, most commonly seen along the Perry Line, where it became a staple of the UEE Navy. Over time, interest in the ship waned, and RSI eventually stopped producing it in 2863.

It was only during the Vanduul War that everything changed. An aging Perseus, the UEES Achilles, managed to take down two Vanduul destroyers on its own before finally being disabled. This caught the attention of Admiral Bishop, who pushed RSI to restart production—something they quickly agreed to, including the creation of a civilian variant.

While the newer military version has already been in service, the civilian Perseus has just been released at this year’s IAE with great anticipation and fanfare, making a strong new addition to our fleets. The ship is impressive, and we hope to review it in more depth later on. What is certain is that it will become a vital part of the USC Navy, serving roles from convoy protection to patrol duties and acting as a capable escort for dangerous missions.

To commemorate its arrival, a launch party was hosted by Director Stiles, bringing together many—if not most—of the new USC Perseus fleet for a series of test runs through Gilly’s combat missions, where they performed admirably. These were only the first of many combat trials to come, aimed at determining the best roles, loadouts, and fleet compositions for the ship, but as a first outing the results were excellent.

Stronger Together – Helping Out Old Friends

It didn’t take long before the Perseus and the fleet as a whole were called to their first real mission: a deployment to Nyx to reconnect with our old—but long silent—allies, the People’s Alliance.

The USC and the People’s Alliance have always shared a close bond, aligned in their views on the UEE and connected in spirit and conviction. However, contact between us has been sparse in recent years. Now things have changed. While we in the USC have already lost our home to the Vanduul, the People’s Alliance now stands at risk of losing theirs as attacks in the Nyx system grow more frequent and severe.

The People’s Alliance cannot defend itself alone. And although they have reached out to the UEE, the help they receive is minimal. So it falls to us to come to their aid—to support our friends and allies in Nyx and ensure they do not lose their homes as we once did.

With this mission in mind, the newly assembled fleet under Director Stiles set course for Nyx, docking first at Levski to coordinate forces and offer support—which was immediately needed as Vanduul activity had been detected at nearby stations.

The fleet wasted no time, launching into action to fight the Vanduul both in space and on-station, deploying several teams to contain the threat and even recover vital intel. The execution was efficient and the brave men and women of the USC finished the objective and fought back the Vanduuls.

This is only the first of many missions we will undertake to support our friends in Nyx. But it is a cause worth fighting for—it is their home, and we must help them defend it.

After all, we are Stronger Together.

The United Space Confederation (USC) was conceived as an organization that would offer something for everyone, set in an environment that maintained fun game play experiences as the top priority. In keeping with the very high standards that Star Citizen has already set, the founders of the USC set out to create an in-game faction that would integrate well into the established universe, while maintaining its own style and theme as well as allowing its Citizens the freedom to immerse themselves in the game however they wished.
