On Monday, September 28th, 2955, the crews assigned to the Ground Mining Operations departed from Checkmate Station in Pyro for what was expected to be a routine industrial mission.

The teams, well-organized and prepared, arrived in several ships carrying ARGO GEOs, ready to begin work at the first mining cluster. However, as the first GEOs were deployed, disaster struck. An unexpected explosion occurred, knocking several crew members unconscious and destroying two GEOs. Initial investigations suggested that one of the rocks had been overloaded—possibly due to operator error.

Moments later, tragedy struck again when a crew member was accidentally crushed by another operator maneuvering a GEO, once more requiring immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the day’s misfortunes: a second explosion soon followed, injuring more personnel and destroying additional equipment.

Were it not for the presence of the Medical Pisces and Rover with trained medics on-site, the operation could have ended in catastrophe. Fortunately, all injured personnel were successfully treated and revived.

After stabilizing the situation, several crews departed to retrieve replacement GEOs while others remained behind to secure the site—one even marking an SOS signal out of debris as a precaution. Despite the rough start, the operation ultimately concluded successfully, with all participants returning safely and valuable resources collected.

As for the cause of the incidents—sabotage, faulty equipment, or something else? The truth appears to be simpler: operator error. Many participants were unfamiliar with the GEO’s systems, leading to the mistakes that caused the explosions. Going forward, it is clear that crews will require additional training to prevent similar accidents. Thanks to the quick response of the medics, however, no lives were lost and all personnel made a full recovery.
