In recent weeks, the Ministry of Intelligence & Exploration (MIE) has faced a series of troubling incidents, including ship malfunctions and security breaches within the USC fleet database.
The malfunctions occurred during an MIE expedition into the Pyro system. Both the USCS Astraios and USCS Dauntless had just departed Port Tressler, en route to MicroTech to refuel their water reserves. However, as the vessels launched toward the Pyro Gateway, both ships suddenly suffered a catastrophic failure of their defense systems.
While their shields remained operational, all turret systems were rendered inactive, leaving the ships vulnerable. Forced to halt their journey, both the Astraios and the Dauntless were compelled to conduct emergency repairs at the Pyro Gateway before resuming their expedition.
The cause of this simultaneous malfunction remains under investigation. The incident occurred only days after the MIE discovered a major security breach within its ship database—an unauthorized access to the entire USC fleet’s data.
With these issues emerging in close succession, many now question whether the MIE’s ships are being properly maintained, whether the ministry is suffering from budgetary constraints, or if there may be a larger act of sabotage at play.
For now, these remain unanswered questions, but investigations are ongoing—and the USC community awaits clarity on what could be a serious compromise of operational integrity.
