It’s been a while since my last captain’s log; a few things have happened since then! Like the scavenger Hunt I was invited to by Thomas Farrister, it was a truly fun experience together with Zan. The three of us raced through the scavenger hunt, quickly solving the riddles and finishing the tasks at each location. We ended up winning the Hunt! With over half an hour before the next team arrived. It was quite the achievement, and to be honest, it made me proud. Each of us won a Drake Hover Bike; I will definitely be keeping that one in my Hangar.
It was quite the event, enough for me to take the time to edit an article about it in my newspaper.
Other than that, I’ve participated in a few tactical strike group missions with the newly named USCS Cloudpiercer, my Perseus-class gunboat. She has done really well over the course of the battles, mostly thanks to a well-drilled and well-trained crew. A big thanks to my recurring engineer and torpedo operator, Arthur Cevir.
Unfortunately, during the last operation, the USCS Cloudpiercer suffered several difficulties. The Torpedo system was completely jammed and could not be used at all during the fight. Additionally, the ship suffered major damage during the battle. While it performed admirably and was still fully functional, the ship still had to return to the dockyards for major repairs and overhauls.
Other than that, things have been quiet. The USCS Gayle flew to support a small mining expedition for tungsten. Ordinarily, we would have used one of the new Drake Ironclads but due to the technical difficulties all of the Ironclads have been recently suffering, we decided a Polaris corvette would do fine. Besides, Gayle is used to doing escort and support duties by now!
Still, it was quite a disappointment by Drake, their newest ship coming out of their factories with so many faults and issues. They have implemented quite a few now but the distrust is already there for the ship; hopefully, its reputation will improve over the course of the next few months.
Issues have also been troubling the rest of my fleet. I am still mostly based out of Levski; unfortunately, docking infrastructure seems to have issues all over the place, forcing me to relocate some of my ships planet-side to places like Microtech. Hence, New Babbage is now the new Home of the USCS Gayle.
I think that is all for now, just getting Gayle ready for another Mining escort, the usual! Until then, William is out.
